What Does 'Refurbished' Mean?

Companies selling 'refurbished' devices have different definitions of this term. The majority of companies simply buy working MacBooks direct from consumers (with a separate website offering to buy used MacBooks) or in bulk from organisations. They then resell these after testing functionality, cleaning it externally and giving it a brief internal clean without full disassembly of the logic board, or sometimes don't disassemble it at all. This means it is possible for a device to have undetected damage which can cause a future issue (liquid damage, which has not been properly repaired to prevent problems), since a lot of devices haven't been fully disassembled and properly inspected.

All refurbished MacBooks we sell have had repairs carried out, to bring them to full working condition for resale. We don't actively purchase these in fully working condition to resell, we offer to purchase these from our repair customers, if they do not want to repair the MacBook they have shipped to us for repair. This means the MacBooks we sell have been fully disassembled/inspected, all functional defects rectified and had a full clean inside and out.

Since 2015, we have solely been repairing MacBooks, no other devices; this transfers to refurbishing MacBooks, since a lot of repairs we carry out are complex, and ensure the best quality. For example, replacing the screen panel instead of the whole lid, to keep everything genuine. This ensures everything sold is going to last, and also keeps the price low for refurbished MacBooks we sell.

Please note, due to Apple implementing detection of certain parts being replaced in Mac OS Tahoe, some repairs carried out can trigger a pop up when the MacBook is set up upon receipt, which can be closed easily. Please click here for more details.
